Divided
Out of all the collections the past fashion week Ashish was the one designer that had its audience so firmly divided. As we filtered out like very fashionable cattle (I use the term we loosely) there were shake of the heads of “that was so disappointing” and big smiles of breaths of ”wow wasn’t that amazing?” there was no middle ground, just like the mixed hems of the collection you either loved or hated it. I loved it, and Alex has a great spin on it, but to me that girl was 90′s me, as I was trying out different looks finding my identity, trying to fit my newly permed tresses into a updo scrunchie, the ends never really staying in but rocking it anyway (yes I rolled up one dungareed leg too) I think what everyone was expecting was the full-out grunge glitz of aw12 and past seasons but people get over it, a designer has to have a signature yes but they can’t keep churning out cowboys & Indians, and Hare Krishna every season, as I am very sure there would have been loud whispers of “didn’t he do that last season?”Polka dot, and fashion by numbers, no matter what theme there always seems to be a hip hop undertone, the Reebok trainers , the denim on denim jazzed with unapologetic gold and silver beading. Really though, what did you think of the collection?
