Shadow & Light
Reminiscent of history when Egyptians would line their eyes with charcoal, Kohl eye pencils has arguably become a basic of every makeup bag as the go-to tool to define eyes. Launched in June, Bourjois have created a series of Kohl and Contour duo shadow & light eye pencils, I tried the aptly named Gris and Petale which is essentially dark grey and pink ( other duos are black & white, brown & bronze, green & beige, blue & silver, black and silver). The iridescent shimmery pink pencil was so soft it was like compressed powder, very gentle, and very easy for smudging and blending ideal for the front corner of the eyes for illumination making them appear bigger, and more defined,;also a great first layer for gradient light to dark for smokey eyes. I am actually surprised the dark end was grey as the liner was very dark on my skin, so the black pencil in the other duos must be really dark. I am impressed with the strong colour pigment of the pink, as usually light colours come up white or silver on my black skin whereas with this pencil it remained a pastel pink. Team this Gris Petale duo with what can be described as a pot of light, concentrated with mother of pearl, so a little goes a long way the Bourjois little round pot number 3. Other little cheeky uses a dab on the cupid bow on the lips, highlighter on the cheeks, and a touch on the arc of the brow, Buy from Boots for only £5.49.
