Debenhams Principle
I am probably guilty of type casting Debenhams as I would walk down Oxford street look at its windows, and keep walking to another department store, I honestly just thought it wasn’t for my age or taste, well now I have egg on my face, as I have really been missing out. The Debenhams press day was an homage across womenswear, accessories, shoes, home, and last but certainly not least beauty. The mannequin army at the entrance donning coats leather jackets, and evening wear; out were the expected bulky jumpers, and knit cardigans instead there were sheer blouses, with beaded collars. The colour palette were mainly blacks, and greys with a splash of vibrant orange. H by Henry Holland was fun, a leopard print clutch with ruby lips, and eyelashes, neon satchels, and a tartan bag I have already reserved a space on my bookcase for. What Debenhams does best are the designer collaborations presumably not getting the hype that H&M get every time an announcement is made because these are long-term; Julien McDonald, Jenny Packham Jasper Conran all big names but at affordable prices ( I mean really affordable, expect prices to start from £30 compared to £300) to the usual designer labels. I had never come across Floozie by FrostFrench, and Jonathan Kelsey before this press day but now they are on my radar as the designers to know, see more pictures from the Debenhams showing on the Adorngirl Facebook page and expect to see everything in store roughly from July onwards.
