Time flies when you are having fun! ( and working hard), I can’t believe it has already been just over a week since I co- hosted the EatFirst festive supper club with Head Chef Benn Hodges. An intimate dinner set in the atmospheric ballroom at the Dead Dolls House; a close circle of friends were exclusively served the full EatFirst festive menu.
Each starter, main, side and dessert was inspired by classic thanksgiving and Christmas dinner with an artisanal twist, set to be available from the 21st November. I was really a ball of nerves as myself and the team dressed and styled the table, I was especially happy with the gorgeous flowers by Next that were perfect centre pieces. My nerves lessened, as each guest arrived and they were warmly greeted with fresh egg nog.
For those that don’t know, EatFirst is actually an online only gourmet restaurant, so it is really turning on its head what we think about a takeaway. The starters of truffle mushroom soup with walnut crumble and rabbit and pork terrine, was a delectable introduction to what was to come for the rest of the evening. Each course was more delicious than the next from the most succulent turkey served with goose fat potatoes and winter vegetables, to a delicious roast duck and truffle mac & cheese.
It felt so good to see everyone having a good time, and to see them really enjoying the food. There was plenty to eat with Moroccan dates wrapped in smoked treacle bacon, pigs in blankets and glazed parnsips. By the time the apple pie with salted caramel sauce, Cointreau and Ivy House fraiche arrived, we were all stuffed! The fancy spread is exactly what you can have too as the festive menu is soon available to order online like I mentioned earlier from the 21st November. All meals are cooked fresh by the EatFirst chefs and chilled to preserve freshness. so you are getting that quality from the comfort of your own home.
Please make sure you try the service for yourself, you will really love it. This post was in collaboration with EatFirst, it was an absolute pleasure working with them, and I hope to do it again in the future. Thank you again also to the wonderful women who attended the night!
