Jägermeister have recently created a new re-blend of the classic which marries the 56 hand selected herbs, blossoms, and roots found in the original. The Jägermeister Spice is now enhanced with notes of cinnamon, rich vanilla and subtle saffron.  I was challenged to create something original using Jägermeister, taking inspiration from the brand’s unique character and heritage, in the Adorngirl way.

The brand offers up connotations of nature and craft, and I have a few great ideas so check back in for more posts. I really wanted to start with the actual herbal liqueur, and give it a fun remix in an epic way. I was inspired by the awesomeness that are monster shakes, alternatively freak shakes which are a dessert hybrid of sundaes and classic milkshakes. Here are four combinations for sharing, that work so well with ice-cold shots of classic warming Jägermeister.

Jägermeister Pretty in Pink

Undoubtedly pretty in pink, epic milkshakes are best served in Kilner jars. I do have a Salter food scale but when it comes to desserts I am a firm believer in measuring in handfuls, dollops, splashes and until it is spilling over.

  • strawberry milk
  • vanilla ice-cream
  • icing
  • sprinkles
  • cupcakes
  • whipped cream
  • marshmallows
  • bon bons
  • chocolate chip cookie
  • Funkin cocktails raspberry and basil syrup

Start with lining the outside of the jar with icing and dribble in sprinkles. I wanted the ice cream to be thick and creamy so filled the jar with strawberry flavoured milk, and vanilla ice-cream. Add around 1-2 shots of the classic ice cold Jägermeister spice and stir.  Now for the fun part, add the drinking straws and the whip cream, the giant cookie should stand up and work as a delicious prop to layer up the cupcakes, bon bons and marshmallows. Drizzle on your favourite Funkin cocktails syrup.

 Jägermeister Oreo

  •  chocolate milk
  • chocolate ice cream
  • whipped cream
  • chocolate icing
  • mixed chocolate sprinkles
  • Oreos

My favourite drink is actually Baileys, and the Jägermeister spice with chocolate milkshake is a dream and is reminiscent of my love for cream and liqueur.  Line the inside of your Kilner jar with chocolate sauce, and coat the outside with chocolate icing and sprinkle with mixed chocolate sprinkles. Mix chocolate flavoured milk, chocolate ice cream and the Jäger spice. Go crazy with whipped cream and top with Oreos.

 Jägermeister Sweet & Savoury

  • Banana flavoured milk
  • Caramel and vanilla ice cream
  • smooth jam
  • whipped cream
  • pretzels
  • sea salted Propercorn
  • white chocolate chips
  • vanilla icing

Sweet and savory, imagine this freak shake for movie night. Line the inside of the jar with smooth jam, and outside the jar with vanilla icing and coat in chocolate chip sprinkles. Mix banana flavoured milk with the caramel and vanilla ice cream, and top with plenty of whipped cream. Top with your favourite Propercorn flavour and  pretzels. This is the only milkshake that doesn’t have the alcohol inside it. I thought it would be fun to use the Jager shot glass as an accessory, designed to take an ice cold shot before delving in. After all  Jägermeister is meant to be savoured.
