When you graduate with a merit, it more or less means good or just above average but this merit award winner is more than middle of the road.  With a heaving audience, and Nicola Roberts sitting front row Georgia Hardinge presented her AW 11 collection of stark straight cut black, and brilliant cape jackets with strong shoulders, and fitted dresses.  The graphic chrysalis/ skeletal  style was striking but so simple against the black appearing on the trousers fitted tops, and full length on the maxi dresses. The designer further contrasted and mirrored the black centre pattern with the white capes, jackets, and dresses with alternate scallop pleating throughout. I had the pleasure of meeting the designer although only for a few minutes, and I had the chance to say congratulations for the award and good luck as I was about to see the collections, and she was so lovely and warm in that she gave me a huge hug as if we were long-lost friends, and we hadn’t seen each other for a while. it’s good to see great things happen to nice people, and obviously her warmth, and passion have brought her good karma in the great reception in this strong collection.
