You are going to see plenty of pictures of the infamous throwing of the powders ( it was amaaaaazing to experience first hand) but I wanted to catch the spirit of the festival which was complete, unabandoned joy. This was my first year attending the Holi One colour festival, the concept is actually inspired by the spring Hindu festival of Holi which celebrates love, and colours and it completely blew my mind. Everyone was so friendly, we were all there to have a good time, and dance like there wasn’t going to be a tomorrow.
The performances and DJs on stage hit the right notes, starting off with dance compilations, leading into reggae, r’n’b and hip hop, that got the crowd going. I had paint in my hair, and all over my face and dress, but I didn’t care. When I was travelling home it was a like a badge of honour, showing everyone that I know how to party, and everyone else needed to re-evaluate how they spend their Saturdays. This Holi One colour festival post is all about being in the thick of the crowd, what happened after each powder throw, and some polaroid street style to boot. Check out my rough cut video on the Adorngirl Youtube channel, Bring on next year!
Do I really need to say this?…… If you didn’t already know all pictures were taken by me.
