It’s been a tough start to the year so I have been working on focusing positive energy into making my home a calming and more beautiful space for myself and the kids. So far it is going well, small changes have made a big difference and affordable ebay finds have been a godsend. There will be much more home inspired and design features on the blog to reflect the need for home creature comforts. In the meantime check out my Pinterest board project home to see where I am fined my inspiration. Its perfect timing to talk about the Iittala X Issey Miyake home collection which aims to bring harmony to everyday life. The home collection which consists of textiles, ceramics and glass invites you to celebrate the rituals of domestic life by setting a gentle mood with its colours and delicate shape.
The collection has been designed in close collaboration between the Iittala concept and design team and the Miyake Design Studio. Iittala and Issey Miyake are ideal partners as both brands share similar values and design philosophies. Iittala is a master of timeless design icons, whereas Issey Miyake is a global brand renowned for innovative clothes that go beyond fashion and trends.
“The two brands have always been true to their philosophy of timeless design and creative thinking. They also value tradition, functionality, craftsmanship and the use of innovative materials and methodologies in their design work”,
Harri Koskinen, Design Director of Iittala.
The thirty strong textile collection colour palette is inspired by the awakening of spring and the blossoming of flowers. Cushions and placemats are designed to create surprise and joy ana are based on Issey Miyake’s original folding and pleating techniques that have been used in its clothes making since late 1980s.
