Jack In A Box
Rachael Hall presented a knitwear womenswear collection that I would wear right now, paying close attention to the surface of the fabric as well as the overall design. The concertina like sleeve ends, cleverly layered fringe like ruffles of a flamenco skirt, the exposed zips on the box jackets lined in gold. A cross between old school gypsy travellers, and vintage clown wind up jack in the box completed with elongated sleeves in the ever elusive ‘British’ staple, the bowler hat. Loose patterned knitwear were layered over voluminous tulle midi tutus, and pencil straight pleated skirts in a strong colour palette of purples, orange, jade green, and cream. You’ve got me hooked when you present a collection that hints the idea of a bag lady a little bit of this, a little bit of that accidentally on purpose giving me a clash of styles that work so well together.
