Here’s To Now

“Are you willing to drop everything for the ultimate spontaneous adventure?

You and a guest are exclusively invited to join us on Le Voyage de Courvoisier for an impromptu, luxurious trip from Friday 12th-Sunday 14th September.”

What would you have said? Once I excitedly told my husband and later called my mum, who I both had to assure that no, it wasn’t a spam email, and yes I had previously collaborated with the PR before. I didn’t have to think long to say yes. This is just part one of my trip of a lifetime with Courvoisier, and what made the experience so special was the mystery. I had no idea where we were going.  The only information at my disposal was that it would be a three day weekend break to Europe, to pack a suitcase and bring my passport to meet at Victoria Station at 8.30am Friday. The first day of London Fashion Week. I think LFW was about the only thing that made me pause, because once I could go as an accredited Blogger I haven’t missed a season, but Fashion Week doesn’t stop and I traded camera shots of catwalk, backstage and street style for a visual diary of France.

I won’t bore you with the exact iteniary, but the theme of the trip was set when the 35 strong group consisting of The PR, Courvoisier team and consumers (they won the chance to be on the trip by answering, what would you do if money was no object? ) were interrupted when a rowing couple were really making a kerfuffle next to us. So awkward but we watched anyway, unable to look away. The girl then just handed us an envelope mid-rant with the Courvoisier sealed envelope, which revealed we were Gatwick bound. Believe me this was the first of many surprises from the weekend. The time flew from drinks at the Gatwick lounge, to landing in Bordeaux France, to being transported through the countryside to a sensory experience at the Courvoisier Chateaux in Jarnac. It was a day of tasting the best cognac, and touring cellars, blessed with gorgeous weather.

Courvoisier hotel tour

We were given the chance to freshen up and get ready for the Courvoisier black tie dinner to be hosted by Master Blender Patrice Pint. I almost didn’t want to leave my 5* suite at the Hotel Francois Premier in Cognac, it was so luxurious complete, with separate lounge, bathroom, and separate shower room, and the biggest bed. It was essentially a small flat.  A night of gourmet French cuisine, cognac, great conversation and the reveal of a £2000 bottle of Cognac soon to be available in Harrods was on the cards. It was a great night but after such a full day of excursion, I was ready to rush back to my suite to watch the Lego movie on my surface and catch some sleep. Watch out for part 2 revealing the X factor style cocktail challenge, and our night in Paris!
