The LCF BA14 sewing needles have been passed from Menswear Designer Alexis Housden to collection of the year 2014 winners Victoria Smith & Hae-Na Kim. The graduate show was a strong, diverse group, but the commercial feminine collection took the prize, breaking a two-year winning streak for menswear. Subtle embroidery, and billowing cocoon separates, tucked into loose boxy trousers and dresses made for a pretty aesthetic. The best directional use of colour & textile award was a group effort awarded to my ones to watch ( just saying) Sofia Ilomen, Jinhee Moon and, Mengna Ye. On their own, their respective designs are good. Sofia IIomen and Jinhee Moon set a base with plenty of texture, against slouchy pastel graphic knitwear, whilst Mengna Ye complemented with scarecrow/lampshade ‘tasselled floppy hats. The culmination of the disciplines, and styling made them exceptional, and memorable winners.
It would be a shame to leave the coverage there, I have already put a spotlight on the must see accessories from the show so below is the full shoe, and keep an eye out on the Adorngirl Tumblr for the details of my favourite collections from the catwalk.
