Firework
I really don’t care that London Fashion Week has been over for months technically I am still ahead of the curve as this AW12 collection is still not in retail stores, so there. I titled the post firework not just to put obvious reference to the explosions of light printed on the silk dresses, but also because the collection by Maria Grachvogel makes me think of the Kate Perry song (what?) I am not going to start typing lyrics but her signature of billowing silks , maxi lengths, and prints is that signature which makes this designer shine. Even when you think about fireworks they all essentially do the same thing explode, and glitter in the sky, not unlike any fashion week, there are salon shows, a catwalk, a presentation but as there is something unique about an individual firework so too the individual show. Set in the gorgeous backdrop of the Savoy ballroom, guests were treated by a palette of metallic gold, pops of navy blue, and red, with earth green being the dominant tone making appearances, in both block, and print. There was a mix of proportion high rollneck oversized tunics, and loose Grecian floor length fitted gowns with flowing skirts; I can not rave enough from the coats with expansive lapels, the jumpsuit that pretends to be a dress ( you really can’t tell until the model walks) the square drop earrings, and pendants, there is nothing that I would not wear from this designer, and why I am always excited to go season after season.
