We Can Be Heroes
“All black,… really?” I questioned Meera Sharma at the Westminster Harrow Campus before the show, my reservation being that I thought the outfits would look too stern and hard to distinguish, but Meera had a vision of superheroes, women superheroes in fact. Wonder woman, Catwoman, the epitome of sexy powerful women; and only black would do to realise a modern take of the femme fatale. Meera has a strong vision, and it completely translated on to the catwalk, even within the photographer pit I heard murmurs of striking, and wows; the model army of heavy lined cat eyes, and red lips was all business in crow black coats with leather pockets, gathered taffeta and plastic, over and patent black dresses, and trousers. The patent straps are actually adjustable, designed to weave in and out of cutout straps, you pull to create the volume and ruching you need. The Ambika P3 was almost designed for her specially, as it made for a powerful tableaux; imagine the comic illustrations where the designer used inspiration, and insert your own Kapow, Wap and other vintage battle onomatopoeia subtitles to the catwalk photos.
