Come To Tea
When attending fashion week, and seeing show after show you can forget about the actual clothes, and the context they play outside the bright lights, and hype of the catwalk, and in this I mean I personally think about what editorials things will be featured in rather than when I can buy it to wear for myself. The variety is another reason why I love fashion week ( don’t listen to me when I grumble, by day 3 I am usually tired, and hungry) you can go from the Neo psychedelic grunge of Ashish and in the next hour be transported to a 40′s vintage tea dance. Pins of lights from a gold disco ball bounced around the room, where a live jazz band serenaded, and models adorned in the latest Orla Kiely AW12 collection. Animal motif, bow printed tea dresses, and beaded peter pan collars, they waited patiently to be asked to dance; in which suited gentlemen happily obliged whisking them seamlessly around the transformed Portico show space. Somehow this designer had managed to hold fast to this vintage aesthetic season after season but still remain modern, and provide a collection where I want to wear everything.
