Periscope is the latest social media platform that brings reader interaction and a live stream to your phone. A good rule of thumb is to dedicate time to just a couple of social media platforms and give the necessary time to create individual content to each, rather than try to be on everything. When I first heard about the platform although I liked the idea, I dismissed it for regular use, I even said to Blogger BFF that it would only be ideal for truly epic and exclusive events and perfect for London fashion week. When the opportunity to hear more about how to use Periscope for LFW from Twitter HQ London, I jumped at the chance.

What is so different about Periscope? The videos are live and you can see your readers comments and the icon shows how much people are viewing, and those who choose to leave, live. You can accrue hearts and directly interact with your readers there and then. The video can be directly linked to Twitter, and is deleted after 24 hours, but the original video is stored in your phone so phone memory is imperative. There is the opportunity to get creative by editing the videos once downloaded and create unique content.

For people like me who like to document rather than be in front of the selfie forward facing camera, this platform is more about letting people see exactly what you see and allow them to experience for themselves. With LFW just a week away, find me on Periscope as @Adorngirl for backstage access, catwalks, presentations and Designer interviews.

Major fashion houses, retailers and fashion museums have already adopted Periscope to get their followers closer to the latest news and trends. Versace hosted a breakfast in bed with Donatella Versace, streaming her exclusive style talk via Periscope. Marc Jacobs presented its 2016 collection live on Periscope, including an exclusive Q&A with the designer himself where he described his inspirations and materials before the runway had even begun. Burberry got viewers right to the FROW with live streams of their London Collections Men Spring/Summer 2016 show. Ralph Lauren are set to Periscope their New York Fashion Week Show on September 17th.
