Tinseltown

It is the end of graduate season and what a way to end then with a backstage pass  to the London College of Fashion BA Graduate show that saw Alexis Housden take the prize of collection of  the year.  There was a strong showcase of designers as you would expect from the prestigious school, and you couldn’t miss the  SS ‘13 selection of foil fringe skirts,  and exaggerated rumpled ‘bed sheet’ like pleats from Rachel Greig.   Her inspiration derived  from classical 15th century paintings, of pilgrims seeking holy relics and purity. Religious references were the underlying theme as she explored the concept of modern day  pilgrimage; taking the form of the fabric pleated headpieces, ‘wimples’, worn by medieval women and nuns, and developed this idea into the finished collection into something more fun, and modern.

There are  more posts to come with a full round-up of the entire show as well as individual posts from my favourite collections check out my backstage beauty post on Adornadore
