The Ravensbourne graduate show 2014 was a rite of passage, the next generation of Designers made their debut last Thursday night at the Greenwich campus.  There was a distinct lack of menswear on the catwalk, I definitely would have loved to see more of Stuart Williamson, and Edward Sackey. Nonetheless the womenswear had a few stand out offerings. ‘Nuclear a new beginning’ by Roxane Cassandre Europe Scudier was at first my musings a Phantress of the Opera, but the collection actually draws inspiration from the nuclear bomb tests of Nevada. The idea of nuclear warfare and destruction, was remade into something more beautiful.

The cross section of style was a celebration of femininity and textures. Hope Wyatts’ whimsical hand painted prints and intricate embroidery was inspired by ‘the flying schoolgirl’, styled with print wrap headscarves and parachute style backpacks.  Joscelin Yau brought the dreamlike romance in lingerie, and silk sleepwear. Min Cho proved you are never too old to play with care bears. Cho teamed pastels, faux fur and sheer which culminated into a playful aesthetic of women playing dress up.
