Acid
I wanted to start my avalanche of reviews from the RCA catwalk with colour, and what better than the acids, and play on proportion than Shubnam Jain. Whether the opening dress was rubber or latex, the surface at first looked like drippings of paint running down the material but at closer inspection appeared more like deliberate multicoloured flames; styled with an oversized foam tube twisted into a belt. An idea not entirely original as I have seen rope utilised in the same way on the Roksanda Ilincic catwalk, but I loved it nonetheless; this design more effective on the closures of the orange shimmer Asian dress, and twisted front detail of the exaggerated shoulder dress in hot pink. Take away the show stoppers that the magazines will use for editorials, and you are still left with fitted dresses daring women with confidence will want to wear, well done for exciting the industrys imagination Shubnam.
