Being my first time at Ella Dror I didn’t know what to expect, and right out of the gate the collection of fine knitted web like garments, black rose crown, and hanging gold intricate beading, and metal snake clasps caught my attention.  The collection belongs to Sorcha o’raghallaigh only her second collection (after an acclaimed CSM graduate showing) albeit all pieces were dark in colour black, gold, and green there was still a sense of classicism, and romance within the styling of the look book, the material draped like a fine gauze over the model.  To me there was a slight undertone of a bride in mourning but reading the press release later to see the designer inspirations it was in fact an amalgamation of the art of the Pre-Raphaelite era, juxtaposed with the rites, and rituals of ancient Egypt, the woven metal snakes, and amulets more than an adornment but becoming a symbol of this ancient mythology.
