Thor & Wistle is the realised atelier and concept store collaboration between jewellery designers, Kamilla Thorsen creator of Dynasty, and Rachel Entwistle. Both designers are inspired by the natural, and entomology, so their contemporary pieces although signature, and unique, fit seamlessly together. Dynasty’s delicate chains feature gemstones, and antique beads. Cut from plexiglass, the moth motifs are engraved, polished and heat-treated to give them an iridescence. Entwistle’s alchemical collection is unisex. The bronze, and sterling sliver bands, and coin pendants beg to be layered. Their curated collections are also showcased alongside other London-based designers, forming a kind of co-operative with complementary aesthetics. and a strong emphasis on good quality materials, and design. A pre-requisite for being allowed to be part of the Thor & Whistle collective is the quality. Materials used are sterling silver, gold plating, and black rhodium plating, to ensure the metal does not fade.
From the jewellers currently in-store expect feminine luxe from Smith/Grey, Tessa Metcalfe’s juxtaposing animalistic claws and gems; intricate statement from Kasun, and regal gold from Dominique Lucas. The ethereal is displayed in the pieces from Jana Reinhardt, luxe fine jewellery from Peculiar vintage, and elegance by Pearl and Queenie. Everything by Kamilla and Rachel is handmade there in the studio, which allows for an easier bespoke process for their customers. The curation is seasonal as Rachel Entwistle showcases at LFW. The AW14 collection is already available in-store and exclusive to Thor & Wistle before distribution to other stockists.
