My main New Year’s resolution was to get more sleep, so when I got the invite for a private view for a new exhibition ‘to bed,’ I was intrigued.  To Bed housed at the Showstudio shop is effectively a look at sleep, and its many representations; now anywhere else, and it would have been boring, but Showstudio has that special touch in that it offers a creative standpoint within fashion, and art.  Think about the Vicktor & Rolf Fall 2005 collection, as various models seemed to make the quilt their clothes, Nick Knight sleep video is hours of footage just of models sleeping. cut in to clips of  graceful positions that could almost be editorial poses.  Karl Lagerfeld’s 2001 bag for Chanel, which was first released in 2008 , was originally designed as a neck pillow for long distance travellers. Other inspiring artists, and photographers to make sure to see are Corrine Day, Jeremy Kost, Marina Bychkova, and Andy Warhol, ’To Bed’ runs from the 27th January -12th March.  Ultimately the bed is somewhere we would all love to spend just a few more minutes in and is ’ a place to sleep, penchance to dream-and dreaming is, indeed, what fashion is built on’ (showstudio.com)
