What else can I really say but wow! the staging at the Ambika P3 venue warranted its own pots as the lights went down to signify then end of each look. The BA Fashion graduates at Westminster created a show that yet again proves that London is the place to find amazing new designers. Alice Dellal carrying the cutest puppy, and Pixie Geldof weren’t front row but strutting on the catwalk in the patterned knitwear of Ashley Williams. Catherine Bell is someone who I am really excited about her luxe pure white coats with beading, and fox tails layered over delicate sheer silk chiffon dresses were a masterclass in chic. Backstage the makeup was not subtle created by the MAC team neon peacock colours were layered on the eyes, with a bright pink lip; the hair either slicked in the centre with side plaits, or twisted into plaited twisted chignons. Annie Phillips added the fun I see a lot of the Ashish aesthetic in the use of the bright colour palette and clashing prints but something so unique to her (a dedicated post to follow). Menswear was just as strong, and yes there was a man wearing a skirt ( i’ve always said it wouldn’t be menswear without a skirt or dress making an appearance) but overall the men were dressed like men, a very masculine sport luxe by Aiden Weaver, whereas Alexandra McGrady created a mix of denim, and leather. There were 18 students in the final showcase, and I am going to do their collections justice with individual posts, and a fuller review will be posted soon on Societe Perrier to be continued….
