Right now New York fashion week is in full momentum, and London Fashion Week is officially a week away. London can arguably been seen as the cooler younger and rebellious younger sibling compared to the other major cities, and for SS16 no one seems to be able to get over the fact that the new and improved venue is a car park. The last few seasons Henry Holland has held his catwalk show there, but the logistics of how the space will contend with being the hub of the major fashion event that is the barometer of the billion pound industry have industry insiders and press highly anticipating ( and some scratching their heads) about how the Brewer street Soho space will work.
LFW definitely needed a shakeup, there is no doubt about that because from the outside it may have come across as a bit of a circus. For a while it was too simple to be accredited, and then the Blogger initiative came into play and then it became almost impossible to get a badge. For a couple of seasons for some reason I didn’t get the acceptance for an application even though I was a recommended BFC Blogger, but overall it didn’t matter as even now you don’t have to be accredited to apply for show tickets. I put the application through ( and got accepted) this season because I really want to see and network with the Designers in the showrooms with over 120 brands see more of the Rock vault, and be able to visit the Minnie icons exhibition which is open to accredited press.
