I always have the best intentions to get my monthly favourites all done and dusted at the end of the month. This month alluded me. Photography commissions for Sovereign brands and Lancome have kept me occupied the past couple of weeks, and I needed to prioritise. It was time to take this post out of my drafts folder, make amendments and press publish. These are my highlights of March.
Penhaligon’s Portraits Clara
Continuing on with the Penhaligon’s Portraits story sees Clandestine Clara, mistress to Lord George. I have enjoyed this fragrance family as it feeds into our need for an experience, helping us to understand the fragrance on another level. A spicy and woody, complement to the Lord George scent, Clara is a gourmand that is equally sweet, smoky, and velvety.
Netflix is cool and all (I really love you) but I have burned though all my favourites, three times over. I needed a new series to watch, and only came Sky with big little lies. The mega cast including Reese Wetherspoon, Shailene Wood, Nicole Kidman and Zoe Kravitz, was enough to lead me to set a reminder for its launch. The show does not disappoint.
The way the dark comedic story develops, and how the scenes are revealed are undeniably sexy. Big little lies is set in the supposed tranquil seaside town of Monterey, California. The three protagonists who are all mothers– Madeline, Celeste and Jane – navigate conflicts, secrets and betrayals in their own relationships; as well as the minefield, that is the school playground. Big little lies is a more glossier, provocative, modern desperate housewives, if you needed a comparison.
Nip & Fab
Hands up who gets excited when they find their perfect shade of foundation! Nip & Fab have ventured into makeup, and they are not messing around, making sure to do it right. They have released a series of colour correctors, concealers, lipsticks, palettes and foundations that cater from pale right though to dark skin for us brown beauties. I have dark skin but it can still be hard to find that right shade of brown. Nip & fab have you covered with the light or dark mixer if you need to take their darkest shade down or up a notch.

Seriously ask Kirsty about how much I love chicken, she knows. My family always poke fun at me, and ask so what are you cooking with chicken today? When the chance arose to try the new chargrilled chicken breast fillets from Taste Inc. it was a no brainer. This really isn’t sponsored, I could eat these chicken fillets all day, individually packed, already cooked and seasoned, store in the fridge. I have used them for super speedy stir fry, an impromptu picnic with the kids, and as a snack.

Their precision kettle provides the ideal pour over you need, which is a smooth and precise water flow. The ‘gooseneck’ spout design, and temperature gauge allows for better coffee every time, for when you have the time.

Oh K! is utterly cute and quirky, and me and my daughters each have our own moisturising lip balms. Tongue in chic
Last but certainly not least, is newly released book by Illustrator Angelica Hicks, Tongue in chic. So witty, and almost a series of insider jokes, as the fashion related visual puns, will be hilarious to the ones who understand its origin. The talented Illustrator has collaborated with Vogue, Net-a-Porter and Yoox. and really was only a matter of time, that she would immortalise her depictions in one great book. I am very visual, so I appreciate that it gets right to the crux of illustrations. The pages are not watered down with paragraphs of how images came about, and so forth. This is just a really fun, chic book that will make you smile. Chris Martini anyone? Get the book, it’s much cleverer in there.
