If there’s anything I love more than jewellery, and accessories (aside from my family) is magazines, the tally of bookcases in my house to accommodate my Vogue, Elle, Instyle among other titles (Lula, Bazaar, Twin, Love, Marie Claire, Glamour, I-D….) are three. Yep three large bookcases stacked with these fashion books that were and still is my library of inspiration. If you haven’t heard about the Company magazine re-design where have you been? under a rock, where no fashion news will venture? twitter has been a buzz, every few days a review of the new handbag sized edition and I thought I may put my in my two pence. So far the reviews have been glowing, and no surprise here this one will be too, as it really is that good. It is brave for an established publication to revamp a formula I can only assume was alright, personally I only brought Company occasionally depending on the free gift, and who graced the cover, the 18-30 demographic, something I fit in to as I am 27, but the content seemingly more for a much younger audience, and not enough fashion for my liking. The new look actually reminds me of a living blog, something I envisioned my blog to be like in print, there is a freeness with the mix of hard copy, and illustration, the graphics full of colour, overlapping, and plenty of photographs, it could almost be a set of collages within a fashion designers sketchbook. The beauty pages are actually my favourite part of the issue, when normally it is something I tend to skim past to get to the fashion editorial ( did you see the panda lips?) I like how they are not afraid to ask the people what they want it will be interesting to see how the Company collective pans out, their Facebook page which will offer previews, and allow the readers to contribute to future issues. I don’t think it is bandwagon hopping to feature bloggers, as quality blogging will continue to be a part of the new age fashion media, and the article featuring shiny thoughts, whishwhishwhish, and New Favourite thing highlighting fashion man repellers is genius. Continuing on that note Company have launched their first ever style blogger awards in association with New Look ( I’m nominated in 3 categories, yay) so get voting for your favourites.
