The Royal Tenenbaums. A mood

It’s only recently that I have had an appreciation for film soundtracks. When it comes to the Royal Tenenbaums, the library of 1960’s and 1970’s artists, anchored the point in time for this New York family’s story. Is there really a more iconic Wes Anderson sequence than Margot departing the bus in slow motion? Her usual stoic expression, giving way to a slight smile, as she walks towards Richie. Nico’s These days framed the moment in time and is my one of my favourite scenes of the film, thanks to the music. I curated a Spotify list of the film’s soundtrack, and like to listen whilst I am in the planning stages of what I want to create. Each song helps me to envision the exact scene and makes me smile!
